Quitting your shitty day-job nowadays is like a blockbuster hits, most marketers even guru’s giving their opinions on why you should quit your 9-5 job to start a business. Well, it’s very promising knowing that you’ll become your own boss, you’ll have more time not only for yourself but also for your family and ideally make more impact on your community. But, is it really necessary to quit your 9-5 job? Jump-in with your idea and start it from scratch or decide incautiously to execute those million-dollar ideas you have?
These questions floated on my mind since I started, you’re not alone! The reality is, there’s no one-fits-to-all solution. This is all depend on what kind of business are you starting out? What are the things you’re willing to give-up just to have your idea spread into the world? Also, on how your product affects or may help your target audience? These are some of the general questions that might you think of, not to mention also the geographic feature of where you’re living at? Also, many personal questions like fear of losing and other stuff.
I know, it’s really hard and I’ll always say this “There is no other shortcut but, to work hard and knowing your deepest whys.” This is my value since then, I don’t really believe in a quick-rich-scheme, like those ads you keep seeing on most social media channel where they captured their marketing spill with a background of big houses even with some very good-looking cars. This is one of the bullshits that you’ve encounter eventually. So, if you’re still reading this I will list down some few reasons or points on why you should not quit your day-job on starting a business, without further a due. Let’s go!
You don’t have a well-planned business plan
When your starting out, it’s easy to say that you have these really big ideas that can change the world. That is a nice statement, right? But, there are steps that you need to take before you can execute and share your business to help people all over the world and these should be well-planned and well-executed. Again, before jumping out from you’re comfortable and well-payed job you should brainstorm a lot whether with a team or solo, seek help from others creatives, business owners and consultant, list down your goals and consistently iterate your business plan until you think it’s finally ready.
You have bills to pay and your family owes you
Now, this is a very specific scenario, I know you like to build your business to have financial freedom, and another reason is your family. These are one of the main reasons why you need your job while starting your business. It’s a long road that you might take but, it’s going to be worth it just make sure that you can balance your time for your family while building or iterating your business on the side. It may not work for you but, you can give it a try just always keep in mind that family first and then second is business.
You haven’t found your deepest whys
In business, I truly believe that you have to be obsessed with it while being realistic. That’s the reasons you need to find your deepest. Deal with it, starting a business is hard, selling is hard making it profitable while helping people is much harder not to mention maintaining your brand promises in the long run are also fucking hard. So, whether you’re just starting out or in the middle of something great, I feel that finding your deepest whys will really help you to achieve more. Just be realistic and be honest 101% in any of your engagement and that’s it. Sounds easy, right?
